A good website needs to be built on a solid foundation. SnapSites use at least the following 8 building blocks to make sure your website is rock solid...
(Please note, not all blocks or all elements of all blocks are necessarily included in all websites. Your website quotation will detail exactly what is included with your site.) 1. DesignYou have a choice of a wide range of professionally designed, modern templates. (All the designs have been selected because of their attractive design, ease of use and general user-friendliness. Check the available designs at www.demo.snapsites.net) To your template of choice we add:
- Your company name and logo
- Your supplied top banner. (We can also make a custom top banner for the design you choose. Just send us the photos
you'd like in your banner and we'll design it for you and make it a
part of your website.)
2. Development & functionality i.e. How your website works Optimized
installation of the world's leading Content Management System, Joomla,
with specific settings and configurations so that you can control what
information goes on your website and when. (Other Content Management Systems, like Drupal and Wordpress, can also be used if required.) Creation
of the initial structures needed for content and navigation so that you
can add future info yourself, quickly and easily. Creation
of the menu / navigation system so that people can get around your site
easily and logically and find the information they need quickly.Basis Search Engine Optimisation:
Creating
meta tags for your first 6 pages so that search engines like Google can
"spider" your website (find out who you are and what you do) and list
you in the search engines. Optimizing graphics and links to make them attractive to search engines too. Search Engine Friendly URLS:
Adding search engine friendly URL functionality to make it easier for search engines to find you. Adding the content...
...you
supply to the initial and most essential first pages of your site (so that
you can start using your website straight away). You can then add other
pages and info as you need and want to.Optimizing (so that they load quickly) and adding your graphics to your content on the initial pages.Giving
people a way to contact you is essential if you want to build a
reputation as a reliable, serious business person. Visitors can contact you via your
contact details (phone, cell, fax no, physical, postal and e-mail
address) on your website or they can fill in the Contact Form right on
your site to get in touch with you.Addition of Google Adsense module so that you can publish ads on your site for an extra income stream.Activation
of poll functionality will enable you to get great feedback from your
visitors. You could, for example, let them vote on which music genre they'd like to hear you play more of, which
colours they'd prefer you to stock,
etc etc. A search function that searches inside your own website for the terms your visitor is looking for. This helps them find the info they are looking for on your site with ease.
Your
website can include an Events Calendar which you can use to show when
you are doing shows/training/team meetings/tours etc, where, what time
etc. An RSS
feed can be included on your site which will allow visitors that use
this form of communication to get all your updates sent straight to
their pc as soon as you make them!Search engines like site maps and people find them useful for getting an overview of all the info on your site too. Tell me more about my SnapSite? - Your SnapSite will enable you to add information and photos to your website as often as you like - every day if you want to - via your Content Management System (CMS).
- Training Tutorials:
Our video-type tutorials show you exactly what to do to use your
website without expecting you to go through a steep or technical
learning curve. It's like having a personal website guru sitting right
next to you - free! If you can type a document in a program like Word,
you can edit, update and expand your website. These tutorials make the
"back end" section of your website very easy to use. You don't need to have any programming or "be good with computers" to be able to work the system.

- Tutorials include
- An overview of how the system works
- Adding new content
- Basic editing of existing content
- Media Manager
- Adding images to content
- Menu Manager
- You can create an area just for registered users
where you put info only they can see (they'll get a username and
password to login). You could use this to create an area just for info
for...
- event organisers who need your prices,
- dealers who need your
wholesale price lists,
- tour itineraries for those going on tour with
you,
- customers who qualify for special information etc.
4. Domain nameThis
is the name of your website, the one people are going to type into
their browsers when they want to find your website. You can choose any
domain name you like for your website (as long as it is still
available!). This means that your website will have its own "name" and
"address". Eg. www.yourcompany.com
Your domain name will be registered in your name or in the name of your business, as you wish.
Choosing
a suitable domain name for your website can be quite a challenging
task. What is the name of your trading company? That could perhaps be
combined with the words that best describe what you offer to create a
domain name. Also, keep in mind that people speak different
languages and spelling can be quite difficult with a long name (and
typing mistakes are easy!) so try to keep it as short and easy to spell
as possible.
For more info on how to choose an appropriate domain name, read the article on our website How to choose a domain name for your website 5. Domain based e-mail addresses E.g.

;

Your SnapSites website solution comes with a number of domain specific e-mail mailboxes. This enables you to send e-mail using your company's professional e-mail addresses (e.g.
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
or
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
instead of a general (and often dubious!) e-mail address like hotmail or the address supplied by your ISP.
Another advantage of having your own domain specific e-mail address is that your e-mail address doesn't need to change every time you change your internet service provider (ISP) or other such supplier. This means that you can safely use your e-mail address for official business (and personal) communication and on printed material, without worrying about it changing all the time. Not only does this create a consistency in the way people contact you but it also saves you time and lost contacts!
(We can only supply domain based e-mails if we do your hosting as well.)6. Hosting So that your website is reliably available to all visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it needs to be hosted on a dedicated hosting server.
Our hosting includes all the background programs needed to ensure that
your SnapSites website is able to run the Content Management System
properly and to ensure that your site runs optimally and reliably. Your hosting includes - anti-virus scanning,
- spam filter,
- 24/7/365 monitoring to make sure your website is always "online",
- daily backups, and
- web-based
e-mail retrieval. This gives you the convenience of being able to view
your e-mail directly on the internet, regardless of where you happen to
be in the world or which computer you are using to connect. (When you
are not travelling you can set your e-mail to download to your local pc
so that you can download your mail and read it offline.)
- Disk space and bandwidth specifications will be specified on your quote as they can be adapted to suit your needs.
7. Website statisticsOur site statistics will not only tell you how many hits, unique visitors and pages were viewed per day and per month but they’ll also show you useful and interesting info like which words were used in the search engines to find you, which other sites link to you etc.
This enables you to see how many people visit your website, which pages
they view most, where they come from on the net etc. (We can only supply website statistics if we do your hosting as well.)
The website and hosting modules form the basis of your website – any other solutions are snapped on to these. 8. Monthly maintenance planOur dedicated team will continue to keep the technical side of your site secure, stable, up-to-date and running optimally all the time. Any technical changes / updates that need to be done to keep your website performing optimally in the face of new security challenges, browser updates / changes and general system and program improvements are handled by our technical team on an ongoing basis.
